Zigbee coordinators and gateways - Material - Plastic

Coordinator or gateway?

• Coordinator for Home Assistant: a USB or network adapter managed by Home Assistant – for example the SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus or SMLIGHT SLZB-07.
• Tuya gateway: a standalone gateway for the Tuya / Smart Life app, such as the Tuya Multi Mode Gateway (Zigbee, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) or the Tuya Zigbee & Bluetooth Mesh gateway.

USB or network coordinator?

• USB dongle: plugs straight into your Home Assistant server – for example the SONOFF Dongle Plus MG24, SMLIGHT SLZB-07Mg24 or the Haozee Zigbee 3.0 USB dongle.
• Network (Ethernet / PoE): a cabled coordinator can sit anywhere in the house the network reaches, and you can power it over PoE. LAN, Wi-Fi and USB are available on, for example, the SMLIGHT SLZB-06U, SLZB-06Mg24U or the SONOFF Dongle Max.
• Server without a free USB port: connect an ordinary USB dongle to the network with the SMLIGHT SLZB-U2L converter.

Zigbee, Thread and Z-Wave in one

• Zigbee + Thread: some coordinators also handle Thread, for example the SMLIGHT SLZB-06Mg26U or the SONOFF Dongle Plus MG24. Supported protocols are listed on every product and in the filter.
• Multi-radio: the SLZB-MR4U and SLZB-MR5U combine Zigbee, Thread, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; the SLZB-MRW10U combines Zigbee and Z-Wave 800, and the SLZB-Ultima 3 Zigbee, Thread, Z-Wave 800 and IR.
• Z-Wave only: the Home Assistant Connect ZWA-2 for Z-Wave 800 and Z-Wave Long Range.

Weak signal?

• A Zigbee repeater extends the network’s range – for example the Tuya Zigbee USB repeater or the Frient Zigbee range extender.

Connect the coordinator to a Home Assistant server – you will find suitable ones in the servers and mini PCs category. Then add devices to your Zigbee network, such as presence and motion sensors.
