What's new in HomeAssistant 2025.6

Home Assistant 2025.6: News and Improvements for Your Smart Home

The June update Home Assistant 2025.6 brings a number of practical innovations and improvements that make management easier and expand the possibilities of your smart home. Here are the main changes in this version.

1. Improved selection of entities, devices, and areas

– All selection dialogs (so-called pickers) for entities, devices, areas, categories, and users have been completely redesigned.
– The new interface is faster, clearer, and unified throughout the system.
– Manufacturer logos are now displayed for devices for better orientation.

2. Bluetooth: New network visualization

– There is now an interactive visualization of the Bluetooth network, showing how individual devices and proxies are connected.
– This makes it easier to see why a device is offline or what your Bluetooth coverage looks like.
– Similar visualizations have also been improved for Zigbee networks.

3. Automatic dashboard by area

– The experimental area-based dashboard has received new features – for example, an "Actions" section for scripts, automations, and scenes.
– Support for numeric, button, counter, and timer entities has been added.
– Better naming of sections, for example, "Media players" instead of "Entertainment".

4. End of support for certain installations and 32-bit architectures

– Official support for Core and Supervised installations as well as 32-bit architectures (i386, armhf, armv7) is ending.
– Users of these installations will receive a notification and recommendations for migration.
– Support will continue for 6 more months, after which these methods will be unofficial.

5. New integrations

– Alexa Devices: integration with Amazon Echo, Fire TV, and other Alexa devices.
– Immich: backup of photos and videos from the Immich app.
– Paperless-ngx: management of digital documents.
– Probe Plus: support for wireless Bluetooth meat thermometers.
– Zimi Cloud Connect: integration of Zimi smart home products.

6. Improvements to existing integrations

– ESPHome: better support for devices in deep sleep mode.
– Extended support for Homee, Teslemetry, Shelly, SmartThings, Miele, Airthings Cloud, Squeezebox, SwitchBot, Sonos, Kostal Plenticore, Anthropic Claude 4, and more.
– Some integrations have reached a higher quality level (e.g., gold, silver).

7. Sidebar: Improved sidebar customization

– Did you know you can customize the Home Assistant sidebar? This feature is now even better and more convenient:

  • New editing interface: When you want to reorder or hide items in the sidebar, a modern and clear dialog appears. You can simply drag and drop items or hide them by clicking the eye icon.
  • Synchronization across devices: The biggest innovation is that your sidebar customizations are now saved in your user profile. This means your settings are automatically applied to all devices where you use your Home Assistant account – including mobile apps. No more lost or forgotten layouts when switching devices!

8. Control of media player groups directly from the card

– Now you can add or remove players to/from groups directly from the media player card in the user interface.
– This feature was previously only available through automations and scripts, but now it is right at your fingertips in the UI.
– Note: Not all media players support this feature.

9. Reset and restore original entity IDs

– If you have ever renamed entities and want to revert them to their original ID, you can now easily do this directly in the entity settings dialog.
– A "Reset" icon has been added to restore the original entity ID.
– In addition, you can select "Recreate entity IDs" in the device page menu (three dots in the top right) to restore the original IDs to all entities of the device at once.

10. Other useful news

– Improved backups and notifications for failed backups.
– Support for new units and sensor types (e.g., mg/m³, liters, Wh/km).
– Ability to reset or restore original entity IDs.
– Sidebar customization is now synchronized across devices.
– You can now join and unjoin media player groups directly from the media player card.

11. Changes affecting backward compatibility

– Some integrations (e.g., Met Office) require new API keys or have changed how sensors are handled.

Conclusion

Home Assistant 2025.6 once again expands the possibilities of your smart home – whether it's better device management, new integrations, or a more modern user interface. We recommend updating as soon as possible and taking full advantage of all the new features!
